Last Saturday the new M1 crew of Hughes Hall raced together for the first time in Newnham Short Course, just more than 3 weeks away from Lent Bumps. The 2km course spans from the Motorway Bridge right up to the Railway Bridge. This is a great race for crews to assess how fast they can cover most of the Bumps course.

The M1 crew attacked the course with great determination to finish with a time of 7:05, which is 25s faster than the M1 crew in the previous year. This placed us 7th out of 47 men’s boats that entered the race. They finished with the same time as St Edmunds M1 who did a great showing in Fairbairns last term as well as Emmanuel M1 who is an entire division above Hughes Hall M1 crew in Lent Bumps. This is a great start for our M1 crew and they will work through their Lents campaign and improve even more as we get closer to bumps! Congrats M1!
