🎉 Celebrate 140 Years of Hughes Hall with a 140 Mile 24-hour Ergathon! 🎉

Our 2023 Ergathon
Join us as Hughes Hall Boat Club (HHBC) prepares to celebrate the College’s 140th anniversary with an exhilarating 140 mile ergathon! We’re raising money for vital new equipment that will benefit all our members. As the largest society at Hughes Hall, HHBC welcomes dozens of new rowers and coxes each year, ranging from complete beginners to seasoned veterans—all rowing together in a friendly and inclusive environment.

🚣‍♂️ The Ergathon:
From 8am on the 26th of February to 8am on the 27th of February, our members will participate in a 24-hour non-stop ergathon (rowing machine marathon). We’ll be rowing towards a collective goal of 140 miles, and special guests will join us for this remarkable challenge! All Hughes students, staff, and alumni are invited to participate—either in person or remotely—to help us reach our goal. Stay tuned for more details on how to get involved!
đź’« Support Us:
All donations will be used to purchase essential equipment for our crews, including a new boat, as our current novice boat, Bladerunner, is ready for retirement. Our target is to raise ÂŁ5,000 to give us a head start in our Giving Day campaign coming later this year. Your contribution, no matter its size, will help us achieve this goal!
🚣‍♀️ About HHBC:
In recent years, HHBC has flourished in both size and success. In 2023, we proudly fielded five full crews in the May Bumps, including three women’s crews—a historic achievement following the separation of Hughes Hall and Lucy Cavendish in 2017. This milestone was made possible by the funds raised during our 2023 Ergathon, which enabled us to purchase a new women’s boat.
Our achievements continued with W1 and M1 crews earning blades in the 2024 May Bumps, while W1 and M1 triumphed in the Pembroke Regatta and Hammersmith Head. During the 2022-2023 season, our women’s teams had an outstanding run, with W1 and W2 clinching victories at the Champs Head.
